jobimmersion.ca, the latest project brought to you by the Canadian Association of Immersion Professionals (ACPI), is now online! This original job search portal, entirely dedicated to careers in French Immersion and French Second Language teaching in Canada, is considered one-of-a-kind to targeted, effective and inclusive recruitment.

Guided largely by the finding of its Canada-wide Consultation, ACPI has been working to implement a French Immersion Teacher Recruitment and Retention Strategy. The jobimmersion.ca site, developed by ACPI and supported financially by the Official Languages Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage, is a concrete solution to the shortage of French immersion teachers currently affecting the entire school system. This project was created to stimulate the interest of potential candidates to the multiple job opportunities available in French immersion and French as a second language and to offer a customized and targeted platform for employers looking for the perfect fit.

The demand to attend a school offering a French immersion program has increased by nearly 20% in the past years across the country. Bilingualism is in vogue in Canada and French immersion programs are a preferred way to access it. The increased demand for this type of program is causing a significant increase in the need for French immersion teachers, which makes it difficult to fill positions. It’s estimated that 20,000 teachers are or will be required to meet this growing demand for French immersion programs, and ACPI is counting on jobimmersion.ca to help solve this major challenge.

“Our jobimmersion.ca site is expected to be of great interest to our school community. It was specifically designed to meet the needs of future users, employers, and candidates, who were surveyed last May. This unique job search portal is a tailor-made solution for effective recruitment of teachers in French immersion and French as a second language. Moreover, it is a wonderful complement to other recruitment methods with several distinctive advantages that will delight employers and job seekers alike! “

– Caroline Roux, President of ACPI
